Everyone’s favorite 2 players per team 4v4 bike polo tournament has returned for the fifth installment. If you haven’t played in this tournament before here’s some info about how things have worked in the past.

Location

Spring Lake Park, North Mankato
Teams of 2, 4v4 games
Hockey rinks with concrete surfaces, rounded corners, and lights
Court A: 99′ x 200′
Court B: 80′ x 180′

Format

Teams of 2, 4v4 games. Start searching for that special someone to form your favorite dynamic duo, then get working on your costumes, yes there is a costume contest. For example: Luke and Leia, Han and Chewie, Bananas and Pajamas, Ketchup and Mustard, Batman and Robin, Thelma and Louis, Mario and Luigi, Bonnie and Clyde, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Pickles and Vinegar, Smokie and the Bandit, etc.

Schedule

• Pickup games Friday night
• The tournament format is Duo shuffle Saturday, Duo draft Sunday. Everyone registers with one teammate so we have a bunch of teams of two (this is your dynamic duo). For Saturday every duo is then shuffled and paired up with another duo for every round of day one resulting in 4v4 matches. Wins and losses are tracked for each duo.
• Sunday each duo is seeded and a draft takes place, with each duo selecting another duo to team up with for the full day. Day two is then a 4v4 double elimination bracket.

Come early and stay late, we like to have a good time, we provide entertainment, food, and libations during the tournament.

Accommodations

There is a campground within biking distance to the court if people are interested in that option. Housing will be a bit more limited than normal.

Food

We plan on cooking up a bunch of meat and veggies. Fees will go towards entertainment, food and libations. Vegetarians need not worry as we will have non-meat options also. Please let us know so we can plan accordingly.

Registration

A link will be posted for a Google Form. Be prepared to provide a Venmo address for a payment request to confirm your spot in the tournament.

The form will ask for your team name, who you’re playing with, contact info, housing request, and any special requests or allergies (food and otherwise). You will receive a Venmo payment request for $70 per Duo.

To guarantee your spot, be prepared to sign up when registration opens. This is a click race so plan ahead and have your answers figured out for the form ahead of time (see info in the paragraph above).

This event will be capped at 80 players (40 duos) and we expect it will fill up quickly, (in past years it has filled within a matter of minutes). Now prepare yourselves for an awesome weekend.
