Victoria Winter Mixer
November 11, 2017 @ 10:00 am - November 12, 2017 @ 5:00 pm PST$20
We’re going to be randomly mixing players on saturday morning with the goal of creating balanced and competitive play for all teams.
Last year we played rounds saturday and sunday until all teams had played each other then did single elimination rounds. Hopefully we can reproduce this or something close to. If there are too many teams to do this then we will do swiss rounds.
Topaz Park Lacrosse box. The surface will be divided into two courts measuring approximately 90×50 ft (smaller than NAH standard but its the best we got). It is is a public park so please be diligent about keeping beverages under cover. Public washrooms will be available (yay, no more peeing behind a tree!)
Friday at 2pm til its done: Set up boards. Many hands make light work.
Friday eve: Pickup at the courts
Saturday at 9:00am: Set up court. Register. Mix Teams.
Saturday at 10am. Ball drops.
Saturday night: Party at Recyclistas (25 Crease Ave). There will be live music and Phillips kegs! Bring some small monies to buy some beer and support the cause or BYOB.
Sunday: 10am. Do the thing again.
Monday: if you are canadian, you have a holiday and i’m sure we can play some more pickup at our fernwood court if you stick around.
Just show up. No registration or podium stuff. If you wanna shoot an email to say “hey i’m stoked about coming” that would be swell. If you need a place to stay send the details of how many bodies and when you’ll be arriving.
Email: firstname.lastname@example.org or text/call 778-770-2333 for more urgent stuff.
For folks coming from Vancouver way, you’d have to get the 7am boat Saturday morn in Tsawassen to get here close to being on time. But preferably, come early on Friday and hang out! Once you get off the boat its about 35 min/km drive, or over an hour by bus. if you have the time and will to bike it, its a beautful route.
The ferry from Anacortes (1hr drive north of Seattle) is the quickest/most cost effective way.
There is also the Blackball/Coho boat, which leaves Port Angeles at 8:20am (arrives at 9:50) and 2pm. Its about a 20 minute bike ride from the terminal.
The Clipper (passenger-only ferry) leaves downtown Seattle at 8am and arrives in downtown Victoria at 10:45.
May the polo be with you.
